Macromolecule powerpoint

Do we need to know the structure stuff about levels of protein structure?

Yes, you should know the levels, and what determines them (primary - sequence of amino acids, secondary - interaction of amino/carboxyl groups, tertiary - interactions between side [R] groups, quaternary - between polypeptide chains), the two examples of secondary structure and what type of amino acids (hydrophobic vs hydrophilic) would be found on the surface and on the interior of the protein.

hey dr h! i was looking back at my packet on chapter 5 and i had the last 4 boxes blank. i wasnt sure if we went over that in class or if i just didnt copy it down for some reason. should i just recopy and study the 4 i didnt get from the powerpoint on the front page?

No, we didn't go over those slides in class. Yes, there is some nucleic acid material on the test. You should know what the monomers are (nucleotides) and the base-pairing rules.
